October 2004 Gelato Federation Meeting—Beijing, China

Nearly 60 scientists and engineers from 30 Gelato Member and Sponsor institutions met at Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, on October 11-13, 2004. Gelato would like to thank our host, Tsinghua University, for a great event with well-planned social events and carefully-managed logistics.

In a three-day period, attendees were treated to technical presentations by some of the top research and industry users of Linux on Itanium. Aside from the presentations and discussions, attendees were treated to a variety of social events: a meeting kick-off dinner and a tour of the Summer Palace. While not an official part of the agenda, most attendees also had a chance to visit the Great Wall of China. Take a look at some of the photographs taken by Mark Smith, Andy Schuh, Shailesh Patel, and Grant Grundler.

In addition to the pictures here, there are other photo galleries from the meeting on the Web. Andreas Hirstius from CERN has pictures posted at http://www.cern.ch/hirstius/Beijing_Gelato, and UNSW has a photo gallery at http://www.gelato.unsw.edu.au.
