DIKU, (Datalogisk Institut - Kobenhavns Universitet) is the Computer Science Department of the University of Copenhagen. At the heart of Denmark's Oresund region, DIKU has been a leading institution for research and education in computer science since 1970. DIKU offers education at the Bachelor's, Master's, and PhD levels for about 450 students. Twenty-five faculty members conduct research in the areas of semantics of programming languages, image analysis, musical informatics, algorithmic optimization, as well as distributed systems and databases.

Eric Jul - Gelato Leader

Dr. Eric Jul is a Professor of Computer Science at the Department of Computer Science at the University of Copenhagen (DIKU) and heads the Distributed Systems Group. He is also the Director of the Danish Center for Grid Computing. Dr. Jul has been doing research in distributed systems for 30 years and was one of the principal developers of the Emerald distributed programming language as well as the main implementer of the Emerald Virtual Machine, which includes full, on-the-fly, fine-grained object mobility.
