The Gelato Federation is a worldwide consortium of diverse organizations who come together as open-source suppliers and users of Itanium Linux technology and solutions. The Gelato mission is to enable scalable open-source, Linux®-based Intel® Itanium® Processor Family computing solutions for academic, government, and industrial research.

Gelato was founded and launched in early 2002 with seven leading international institutions* in association with Founding Sponsor, HP. Today, membership has grown to 70 organizations -- from almost every continent of the world -- whose work ranges from a variety of computing areas and applications.
